TOYOTA CAMRY

In 1982 the famous Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota introduced a new series of cars, called "Camry". The history of Camry includes several generations. There were two main versions of Toyota Camry: the Narrow-body version and the Wide-body version.

The first created version was the Narrow-body. It was designed as a compact car and was released in 1982. The first generation Narrow-body Toyota Camry (1982–1986) was offered with a 4-door sedan and 5-door liftback body style. This generation came with several engine options and 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The second generation (1986–1990) was called "V20 series". Along with the four-door sedan configuration, a station wagon model was released during this generation. More engine options were provided as well. The third generation started in 1990. In this generation only the 4-door sedan version of Camry remained, but a new hardtop sedan with special style was also introduced. The fourth generation was launched in 1994. This last generation was named "Camry V40" and was available on the Japanese market only. In 1998 the Narrow-body Camry was replaced by its twin, Toyota Vista.

In 1991 Toyota started manufacturing a larger, mid-size version of the Camry V30 series, which enjoyed higher popularity in North America and was called "XV10". This was the beginning of the Wide-body Camry. The first generation (1991–1996) featured a 2.2-liter 5S-FE four-cylinder engine in its most basic level. Three body styles were available: 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon. In the second generation (1996–2001) the 2-door coupe model was discontinued. The third generation started in 2001. It was built on the Toyota K platform and was offered as a 4-door sedan. The fourth generation (2006–2011) came with four and six-cylinder engine options. Additional features, like power locks, stability control, and traction control, were added. The fifth generation was launched in 2011. This newest generation is available with redesigned interior and exterior. Three new engine options are provided as well. All trim levels include six-speed automatic transmission as a standard.
