Hooker Super Competition Headers are available with tuned primary tubes to create optimum pressure between the intake and exhaust systems. They come packaged with premium exhaust gaskets and new mounting bolts. Compatible with stock floor shift linkage only, intent to provide column shift operation will require the use of a Lokar, Speedway Motors or similar column linkage/cable shifter assembly that deletes the stock lower frame shift linkage parts in the area of the collector. Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. Due to incompatibility with stock spark plug wire heat shields, aftermarket spark plug wires with 45° boots are recommended to be installed with these headers The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture bui.
Coming from humble beginnings in 1962 when the pioneer Gary Hooker designed a header for his Chevy, Hooker Headers slowly took root in South Ontario in the subsequent years. This lead to an arms race on who could dish out the best exhaust systems in the market - fortunately, Hooker had a dedicated team of engineers and technicians that toiled countless hours away to design a competent line of exhaust components and systems that produced significant power gains in a balanced engine to exhaust ecosystem. Hooker products gained more acclaim as the 70s and 80s rolled in, becoming the first choice of drag racers when it came to headers and offerings like the straight-thru glass pack mufflers becoming the craze of these motorheads.
Hooker also delved into the non-enthusiast and niche markets, offering bicycle, motorcycle, and truck parts to augment the service of these daily drivers in a more economical setting. Engine swaps became a testament to Hooker's commitment to quality and performance, making headers for various big and small block applications. Other Hooker landmark designs and patents include the Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier coating and the Darksides black ceramic coating, which are responsible for extending the lifespan of their headers, and the Aerochamber Muffler, which remains as one of the most advanced designs in the market to date. The exhaust aftermarket was never the same when Hooker walked its talk.
