Hooker Super Competition Block Hugger Headers are great choice for custom car, truck, or street rod where a specific fit tuned super competition header is not available. These headers are available in chrome, high heat resistant black paint or Hookers Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating. Street rod owners who have installed a LS-1 or derivative engine and need maximum frame rail clearance with complete access to engine mounts and starter. NOTE: For proper fit of these Hooker Headers, engine swap relocation mounts (12611HKR) should be used to ensure proper location of engine into chassis. NOTE: Hooker recommends the use of multi-angle spark plug wires for this application (example - MSD-32819). WARNING! Breaking in an engine with ceramic-coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic-coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. HOOKER recommends using a cast-iron exhaust manifold or an old header to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. .

Coming from humble beginnings in 1962 when the pioneer Gary Hooker designed a header for his Chevy, Hooker Headers slowly took root in South Ontario in the subsequent years. This lead to an arms race on who could dish out the best exhaust systems in the market - fortunately, Hooker had a dedicated team of engineers and technicians that toiled countless hours away to design a competent line of exhaust components and systems that produced significant power gains in a balanced engine to exhaust ecosystem. Hooker products gained more acclaim as the 70s and 80s rolled in, becoming the first choice of drag racers when it came to headers and offerings like the straight-thru glass pack mufflers becoming the craze of these motorheads.

Hooker also delved into the non-enthusiast and niche markets, offering bicycle, motorcycle, and truck parts to augment the service of these daily drivers in a more economical setting. Engine swaps became a testament to Hooker's commitment to quality and performance, making headers for various big and small block applications. Other Hooker landmark designs and patents include the Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier coating and the Darksides black ceramic coating, which are responsible for extending the lifespan of their headers, and the Aerochamber Muffler, which remains as one of the most advanced designs in the market to date. The exhaust aftermarket was never the same when Hooker walked its talk.
