GMC is a division of the legendary American automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM). Nowadays, GMC has leading positions in producing of high grade pickup and commercial trucks, buses, vans, military vehicles, CUVs and SUVs. One of the most awesome CUVs (crossover utility vehicles), offered by GMC, is the Acadia model – the first unibody vehicle of GMC.
GMC Acadia is a 5-door CUV that was introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model. The first generation Acadia (2006 – 2016) was based on the GM Lambda platform and featured 118.9 in wheelbase. The first Acadia vehicles came with 6-speed 6T75 automatic transmission and 3.6 L LY7 V6 engine. In 2009, a new engine type was offered – 3.6 L LLT V6 engine. The Acadia is also available with either front or all-wheel drive, and provides seating for eight passengers. Plus, GMC Acadia is equipped with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, 18 inch wheels (or 19 inch as option), four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and more.
In 2011 model year, GMC presented a new version – "Acadia Denali", part of the company’s top-of-the-line trucks. Five years later, the second generation Acadia has been launched. It features a new design and smaller size with shorter wheelbase (112.5 in). Thus, the second generation is considered as a mid-size CUV, unlike the previous generation that was classified as "full-size" CUV. The seats are also decreased to seven. The second generation is equipped with 6-speed 6T50/6T70 automatic transmission and two engine options: 3.6L V-6 VVT DI and Ecotec 2.5L DOHC I-4 engine. In addition, GMC Acadia comes with more safety features and a new All Terrain drivetrain for better off-road performance.
