Forty years ago, the legendary American Automobile manufacturer Ford has introduced a new series of supermini cars, called "Fiesta". This is one of the best-selling Ford marques – through its long history Fiesta enjoyed high popularity and has won several awards, including Top Gear's Car of the Year 2013. Ford Fiesta was manufactured in six generations.
The first generation (1976–1983) was offered in two body styles: 3-door hatchback and 3-door panel van. The Fiesta came with 90.0 in wheelbase and 4-speed BC4 manual transmission. The second generation (1983–1989) had a new design with refreshed front end and interior. Three types of transmission were available: 4-speed BC4 manual, 5-speed BC5 manual, and CVT automatic transmission. The third generation started in 1989. It was based on the Ford B platform and featured a completely new appearance.
The fourth generation (1995–1999) came with increased wheelbase and a new suspension system with superior handling abilities. This model became very popular in the UK – it is Britain's best-selling car from 1996 to 1998. In 1999, the exterior was improved with a Focus-inspired face, new bumpers and wheel designs. This version of Fiesta was named "Mark IV". The fifth generation (2002–2008) was built on the Ford B3 platform and is also known as "Mark V". Fiesta Mark V is provided with passenger airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, and many more useful features. In 2008, the sixth generation was launched. It was called "Mark VI" and utilizes Ford's new global B-car platform. The new Ford Fiesta is equipped with additional features, such as: Ford's Convers+ menu system, keyless entry with a "Ford Power" starter button, reach and rake adjustable steering wheel, electric power steering, and a USB port for portable music players.
