The COMP Cams Cam Phaser Limiters are computer-controlled cam gears that appropriately limit maximum cam phasing to bestow proper control over intake and exhaust centrelines as well as reduce piston to valve clearance issues. These limiters would optimize camshaft timing based on the engine's current RPM. Engine oil is pressure fed to the phasers via passageways in the cylinder heads and cams. The engine would use control solenoids that appropriately adjust oil flow in and out of the phaser's control chambers to provide the ability to retard the camshafts. By suitably restricting cam phaser motion, they allow the proper integration of higher performance camshafts. When this limiter is utilized with more aggressive camshaft profiles, users can expect elevated upper-RPM gains that will not reduce bottom or mid range performance.
