A Quick Guide to Properly Integrating and Adjusting Your Coilovers

Pre-Installation Preparation

  4. The spring is initially slid up the shaft until it meets the upper spring retainer with the shortest spring going first. Once done, install the lower spring plate.
  5. Set the zero-preload position or vehicle height limit by rotating the coil adjust nut until the springs are tight and the lower plate is placed onto the lower rod end. Afterward, tighten the locking screw. The point where the springs, slider spring plate, and coil nut adjusters are all coinciding is considered the pre-load position.

Install Your Coilovers

  1. The calipers that control the movement of the brake pads should be removed by unscrewing the top and bottom bolts that support them. This then provides you the opportunity to remove the brake rotors.
  2. Next, set aside the sway bar by taking off the bolt and brushing before removing the strut support bolts and stock strut mount.
  3. The camber caster plates, which are utilized to change the angle of the tires, are first to be installed. Divide them into an upper and bottom part.
  4. The upper plate is designated at the top of the strut tower while the bottom one is placed below. Complete the mounting of the plate by tightening the integrated nuts and bolts.

  10. Once necessary adjustments of the plate are done and it is properly mounted, reinstall the brake rotor, caliper, and other parts removed earlier. Finally, lower the vehicle to the ground slowly.

How to Adjust Your Coilovers

Once placed back on the ground, your vehicle should be established at your desired ride height. However, if that’s not the case, here are the comprehensive steps on how to lower coilovers as well as how to raise coilovers.

  1. Once again, with your vehicle parked in a flat position, raise each side using a jack and set aside the wheels to obtain access to the suspension system.
  2. Detach the lower shock mount from the suspension control arm and carefully remove all the suspension parts that prevent the unrestricted movement of the lower shock body.
  3. With the collar adjustment wrenches included in most coilover kits, loosen the lower shock body collar so the lower shock body can be appropriately threaded to the upper body. The more it is moved upward, the greater the ride height restriction.
